Green Building

Here is the definition I wrote back in 1995 when we started the Built Green™ Program:

Green building is the use of design and construction techniques based upon energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor air quality, and comfort and durability and the use of products that have a positive impact on the environment.

There are different shades of being green or having a green home or a green addition. For a home to be certified "green", there must be a standard by which it was designed and built.

Currently most of the certified green homes in Colorado have been built under the Built Green™ Program of Colorado. This may be replaced by the National Green Building Standard of the National Association of Home Builders. Another program is LEED R which is governed by the United States Green Building Committee.

I am a co-founder of the Built Green™ Program which was established in 1995. You can be assured that whatever shade of green you would like to certify your home or addition, we have the experience and expertise to make it happen.
